How do you face your fear of dogs?

The fear of Dogs is cynophobia.It is an ailment in people who feel insecure in presence of a dog as they may have experienced some earlier harm or attack .The only way to overcome this fear is to gradually come close to the to tame innocent creatures. Most are domesticated and when taken care of and trained, they will not hurt or harm. If that's not convincing enough, here are some steps one can take to be more comfortable:

1.Google different types of dogs and their behaviors. Read and categorize the most to the least friendly. This way, one can know which ones one may want to avoid until ones courage builds up.

2.Take weekly walks around neighborhood, and if one sees any people walking their dogs, stay on the other side of the street. As one begins to feel more comfortable, slowly work ones way to where they are and see if one can make conversation with the owner while the dog is in the vicinity.

3.Ask a dog walker what kind of dog he/she is walking and if it's good around kids and any other essential questions one wants to know. Don't be afraid to tell the person about ones fear of dogs and one may want to keep a bit of a distance. Usually, a dog that's being walked is trained and will not bite. They may give a couple sniffs by ones feet and a bark or two, but it is not alarming as this is a typical greeting for a dog just as we say hello and shake hands.

4.Go to a pet store and look around for dogs. One can choose to talk to the pet store owner about the same things one did with the dog owner if it'll reassure about what dogs are very friendly towards people. (Remember these dogs are in glass kennels and couldn't get out on their own, so there's no need to be afraid.)

5.Start to ask the owner if one can pet the dog and do as directed. Keep repeating these weekly walks until ones fears are gone.
