Drivers side, about midway up the side of the transmission.
Under vehicle, drivers side of transmission, near the top.
Should be a plug on the side of the transmission - fill to this level

A 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ manual transmission engine can be filled with 6 quarts of fluid. Its cooling system, on the other hand, can be filled with 11 quarts fluid.
On the side of the trans about half way up and in the middle, fill until some comes out.
Drivers side, about midway up and in the middle of the trans you will find a plug for filling.
There are two large flat hex plugs on the driver's side of the transmission. The upper hex bolt plug is the fill plug.
17mm allen wrench, the transfer case takes a 10mm allen.
Its on the left side 15/16 six point socket to remove
Drain plug is hex 17mm; fill plug is hex 13mm
On the passenger side of the transmission there should be two large hex-screws towards the top. The upper one is the transmission fill plug.
