If auto through the dipstick tube If std. through plug in side of trans
It takes six or seven quarts of transmission fluid to fill it in an escort zx2. Its good to buy an extra one in case it's needed.
QUOTE::::On the side of the transmission there will be a plug. remove the plug and check the fluid level. If fluid pours out when you remove it, that means the transmission is full.. if not, add fluid through this hole till it pours out. This information is completely wrong! There is no fill plug on the escort GT manual trans.. the fill hole and level check are the speed sensor... remove the 10mm bolt twist and pull up the speed sensor, re-fill, and if the plastic gear on the speed sensor is wet, it is full.
There is a fluid check/fill plug located on the front of the transmission. Add fluid there until it is level with the bottom of the hole.?æ
My Haynes manual says to fill it by removing the speed sensor.
The 91 and newer car you fill though the speedo cable
If you have the 1.9L, you have to take the speedo cable assembly out and there will be the hole to fill your transmission fluid
Probably through the transmission fluid level dipstick tube. Use a funnel, obviously. :)
The manual transmission on a 91 Ford Escort GT is filled with fluid by gently depressing the clutch with the engine off. Fluid is added to the reservoir until the level stops going down.
Should be a plug at the side of the transmission - fill to this level
Should be a drain plug at bottom of transmission Should be a fill plug at side of transmission - fill to this level
With transmission fluid and a small spouted funnel, fill the stem with the red rubber ball cap, to the lower right of the engine. It's the same stem you check your transmission fluid level.
Should be a plug on the side of the transmission - fill to this level
