Be advised: according to site sources; there are (or were) about 13 million fake Vietnam War vets. Today when someone asks a Viet War vet if he was in Vietnam...they also ask to see a photograph of him IN VIETNAM. Extremely ironic: Vietnam, a war in which no man wanted any part of, no man wanted to be associated with...let alone fight in it...becomes a war in which millions of men now (falsely) want to be considered veterans of. There should be no more than 2 1/2 million Viet War vets. Especially after nearly 40 years, that number should be even lower. US Civil War veterans lived into the 1950's (20th century), so it's conceivable that Vietnam War veterans will do about the same (for the 21st century)...as those two wars took place at the same time...almost exactly one century apart from each other. Ask your family members who was in the war...then ask for photos. If no photos exist; then ask to see his DD-214 (Official discharge certificate, it's simply a single piece of paper, it's called a certificate...but doesn't look like one, it looks like a piece of paper with personal information on it). If no discharge paper exists...use common sense, and pursue the matter...maybe he's a vet with lost paperwork, it's been known to happen.
