Maybe if you're lucky it'll be something simple. Perhaps a loose engine or tranny mount is allowing powertrain parts to seperate.

Check your tranny fluid. The ticking is not the tranny...it is most likely top end ticking. Your valves need adjusted. Make sure you check the mileage on the car or the tranny itself. If it's already pulled, they should have records of what vehicle it came out of and they can check the mileage on the car.
