You need to have the system checked for codes to know what the problem could be.

The ABS warning light is on to tell you that there is a problem with the ABS system. Take your car to a knowledgeable mechanic and hook it up to a diagnostic tool and source the problem. It can be as simple as a ABS sensor/wire conector or it may be the ABS modual. Fix the problem and the light will go away. Hope this helps. "G"

To fix a Mazda 3 ABS light 05 plate from staying lit you will need to see a dealer. They will need to use their computer to reset the code as long as the ABS light is faulty and not the actual ABS system.
Considering the ABS light is on, more than likely your ABS is not functioning. The only way to make the ABS light go off is to fix the problem that caused it to come on in the first place. You say you do not need ABS anymore. So you're not planning on making any emergency stops, where the ABS might prevent you from having an accident. When used correctly your ABS system can be a lifesaver. To use it properly stomp the brake, do not release the brake, and steer around the hazard.

The majority of the time, this is due to a problem with the wheel sensor. On 4-wheel ABS there are 4 sensors, 2 on 2-wheel ABS. I would suggest making sure these were not disconnected or damaged.
