∙ 12y agoNever found one that was totally free hosting. In fact, some of the so-called "free" hosting sites are actually scams to draw people in.
If you find free ones for domain names and hosting, it's going to put nasty ads and restrictions on you that you don't need and will not likely come with a domain name.
You can get both very cheaply (less than $100 a year) so why not just pay for the good stuff? You can make a free website on free Web Hosting services. However, they will only provide you with subdomains. Some free web hosts will allow you to host your own domain if you already own one. The problem is where to get free domain names that you can fully control. There is a service called DOT TK that allows users to register a domain that becomes top level.

The registrar for .COM is VeriSign, Inc. If you talk fast enough, it's possible that they may give you a domain name for free. Rotsa ruck. It's quite conceivable that their own employees might get a "free" domain name, but in that case, it's not really free, it's part of your compensation package.
Some companies will buy a .COM domain for you, as an incentive. This is especially true of web hosting companies, who often prefer to include a "free" domain name in their hosting package, rather than have you buy a domain name on your own, only to be seduced by the hosting packages offered by virtually all domain name registrars and resellers.
Other companies offer a domain name for "free" for promotional purposes once in a while. If you'll pay me $2000 for my used car, worth considerably less, I'll be happy to buy a domain name for you.
You can also get a subdomain for free. If your friend owns yourfriend.coim, he can give you the subdomain you.yourfriend.com at no cost. Your friend needs to add one of more directives to the DNS box that handles yourfriend.com to do that, but the information is readily available online. Even hosting companies that don't give you a free domain name will generally let you have a subdomain name for free.
If you get a COM domain name that's registered with Verisign, you pay an annual fee, and you can't pay more than 10 years in advance. If you get a COM subdomain name from someone else, he may or may not want you to pay annually.

Keep in mind when you are looking for a free domain that many companies are only willing to offer this service if they can place ads on your website.
