It shouldn't make a noise unless the holding bracket is busd. If the catalylist inside is broken, it will rattle.
You need to look for the obvious from underneath while someone is bouncing the cars bumper. If no luck, one area to look at is the front brake pad anti- rattle clips; possible missing or broken. Good luck.

I don't know what year your Z is but I will guess it has the same problem my Z had. Remove the driver door panel and the sound insolation. There you will find the linkage for the door functions. The insulation used at the factory for the linkage has likely fallen off by now. I fix the rattle with wrap flew conduit. Also you will find that where the arm rest fasten to the door the mounting plate is rivited on. Oer time and a lot of pulling on the arm rest to close the door will stech the rivits. The mounting plate is no longer tight to the door panel and it rattles. Either rplace the rivits or do as I did. Add a small bead of silicon.
