If it has antifreeze on it you may have to replace it. I have shot some WD40 on MANY serp belts and had good luck. This will NOT hurt the belt regardless of what many 'experts' may say. Over the years I've had similar problems, both with conventional "v" belts and serpentine belts. In the "old days," rubbing "bar" soap on the belt[s] would do the job. Do NOT ATTEMPT to do this with the engine running. Be certain the engine is OFF, and I suggest, ALSO COOL to eleminate the potential for burns to hands or arms. I don't know exactly how it works, but I suspect that the soap acts as a lubricant. Also, I have had success by removing and reinstalling the serpentine belt, "reversing" it so that it travels in the opposite direction. As indicated in answer 1, WD-40 also has worked for me.j3h.
