How do you get rid of the pre-installed ad-ware and useless applications upon arrival of a new computer?

^-- This way is the easiest way and is good for less advanced users however it will not rid your computer of all the pre-installed software. The best way is to take the OS installation disk that came with your computer and reinstall the OS. Do this before putting any files on the computer as it will wipe the hard drive clean. Pop the disk in, shut down, start up, boot from disk, and follow the on screen instructions. The other disk that comes with your computer is the one that holds all that pre-installed junk so you don't need to install that most of the time. However, sometimes you'll need to install a few drivers off the disk. You can either select the drivers you need or download a driver detector off the internet and it'll do it for you without the need of the disk.
