You've got to locate the solenoid that operates when the shifting mode button is activated or deactivated,(the switch allows current to flow when in the depressed position, sport mode, and when the button is out, normal mode, current can not flow to the solenoid. Remove solenoid and keep it grounded to the engine block then have the key on and then operate the button on shift column and observe the movement when button pressed. With the button out fasten the solenoid plunger or shaft so that it stays in its current position. Reinstall to transaxle housing then test the shifting of the vehicle.
Sport. It changes the shift pattern of the automatic transmission. You can turn this on or off.

You can use the 1990 stereo in your 1992 Accord, but the 1998 will not bolt in the correct way.
