How do you get the window in after the door is apart We're having a bad time with this?

Have you taken the window frame rubber out other than this I have no advice to add. I tried to do this job myself once and had to give up and take to the garage.

Why would the power window switch be out in both the main door switch and the other door switch?
Both window switch on the front door will lower the window, the problem is that both switch will not raise the window back up to its close position and also the master window switch on the Driver's side will not operate all the time nor will the master door lock on the driver's side lock the passenger side door. On several ocasion the driver's side window switch lowered it's window and it would'nt raise the window back up unless after quite a few minutes playing with the window switch, opening the door, etc.

very carfully You have to remove the door panel. Have tape or suction cups made to hold windows in place, and keep the window in the up position. If your window motor died while the window was down, like mine did, it can be pushed back up manualy, after you remove the window from the control arm. After removing the door panel, you have to remove the window from the crontrol arm. Having small hands, and a helper is a must for this job. You have to drill out the original bolts, or use a chisle, that hold the control arm in the door. The whole unit should come out the bottom hole on the door. (this is where you need your helper to pull the window back up) You again have to drill out the original rivits holding the motor on the control arm. The replacement motor should have new bolts and nuts to replace them with.(I got replacement motors from NAPA, and they were cheap) The first time you do this it is VERY time consuming. But if all your window motors went out at the same time, like mine did, you get really good at it on the second and third one :)

window motor wire is probably cracked(broke) at the point where the wire harness sits between the door and body of van. I had two wires do this for the window and door locks. Also the motor brushes are very soft and wear out fast. I've replaced 4 window motors in my 1997 astro van. I also had a wire in the door ground out on the inside of the door, I taped wire and redirected it so it wouldn't rub on the door metal. I'd guess door lock is broken wire in door hinge area and motor is bad brushes. I took apart my broken one to see what this problem is.
