The green wire from the tach goes to the negative side of the coil.
Connect the green wire to the negative side of the coil.
u have to look at ur distributor if it is an HEI "coil on top there is markings on the distributor cap for the tach but if it is a regular distributor with an external coil you hook it up to the neg wire off the coil neg/ black wire
I would say connect it to your coil pack or distributor lead if it has one. I am, however, old school.
need to know where to hook coil wire is all i need to know.
on the drivers side of the distibutor cap using a blade electrical hook up you can plug into the opening or if there is a wire already there splice into it make sure all your grounds are in place or you will burn up you coil
You will need to hook up your tachometer to the coil connector. After disconnecting the throttle sensor and applying the hand brake, look for the plain black wire at the coil connector to hook it up to.
You would hook to the negative side of the coil. Some HEI distributor caps are marked "tach".
off the neg. coil wire just t in
To install a tachometer first determine where the tachometer will be mounted on the dash column. Then, use a flathead screwdriver to tighten the clamp around the column of the tachometer mount. Next, put the two red "trigger" wires through the firewall and connect the other ends to the coil wires of the distributor. Wrap the tachometer wire around the ignition coil bolts. The remaining two wires must be wired into the ignition of the car. Insert them into the power terminal of the fuse box which permits the tachometer to operate when the engine is on.
It goes to the top wire on the coil, the one that usually has a cover over it.
Since the coil is in the distributor, simply hook the tach 'trigger' wire to the out put on the side of the distributor cap marked 'tach'.
red (+) wire to possitive side of coil- Black (-) wire to negative side of coil. thats it.
