I bought a wiring harness at a store specializing in all things trailers for my 2000 Montana (they are also readily available on-line). The instructions were so-so, but what you need to find is the place behind the cover in driver side trunck. On mine, there was a plug to accept the wiring harness. After that it just about routing the wiring - I routed mine through the rubber grommet where the brake light goes.
You can find a wiring diagram that shows you how to hook up a trailer wiring harness on a 1998 Pontiac Transport at most auto parts stores. A Pontiac repair manual should have the diagram in it.
wiring to hook up a boat trailer is the same as any other trailer. most plugs obtained from an auto store will have diagram and instructios
Dead short in the trailer wiring or one of the trailer light sockets.
If you get a wiring package from Hoopy it will give you the diagram. I believe that they haven't changed the location since the earlier models and if so you hook into the wiring behind the passenger taillight.
You buy a direct plug in kit from the Dealer.
it is under the hood on the driver side in the fuse box
U-Haul sells a kit with instructions
i recently did this in my montana,i ran a wire from the rear wiper switch just below the radio.i have had no problems with it.

Most auto parts stores have wiring kits that you can just plug into your factory wiring without any trouble. Check with your local auto parts dealers
Follow the directions for installing a 7-way trailer wiring harness found atwww.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. I usually don't like do-it-yourself projects, but Advance Auto Parts sells a kit with color-coded wires that made it an easy project.
I'm not certain that the vehicle came factory-equipped with a trailer wiring harness. HOWEVER - if it does exist look CAREFULLY underneath the rear of the CR-V for the wiring to be tucked up and into the rear area somewhere, perhaps underneath the rear bumper housing.
