Replacing the deck is extemely simple, especially if you are installing a stock CD/Radio deck (which you can find for 50 - 75 bucks on Ebay. Your Neon is already wired to plug right in and will not require any adapters or new face-plates to make it fit. (Which I think looks terrible most of the time anyway.)

If you are not going to install a stock CD player, then it's still pretty easy - you will just need to ask a car stereo shop to direct you to the proper adapters for the stereo you are chosing to install.

but lets go with the stock radio because its the easiest:

You will need to remove the two vents in the center panel. They just pop out. You might need to carefully pull on them with a pair of pliers if they wont come out easily. Then you remove the 2 screws at the top or the panel that are now visible. you can gently remove the panel.

Undo the screws that are holding the old unit in place. (They are all visible from the front of the radio (around the edges). Then just pull out the radio. Unplug the wires from the back including the antenna. They should all pull right out. Then you simply reverse the process with your new CD player and close everything back up.

The only thing that might hang you up is the fact that Dodge change the style of the plugs in mid 2002. If your plugs do not match up with your new radio, you simply need to go back down to the stereo shop and ask for the adapter. the adapter always plugs into your car's original wiring and then right into your stereo on the other end.

It's super easy. If you are still a little bit nervous about it or get stuck, you can always drive down to a stereo shop and get a little help. But it probably wont be necessary on this little job. when you're finished, it will look like you bought the car that way in the first place.

Voila!!! Youre done!!!
