You will have a no spark situation. Testing it with a volt meter is easy. Twist the crank shaft slowly by hand and watch volt meter. If there is voltage and no voltage the sensor is good. No readings sensor is bad
Crank no start.
if your crank position sensor is bad you car or truck will not start because you will not have spark
One symptom of a bad crank shaft sensor is the car having trouble starting. The car stalling and backfiring are other symptoms of a bad crank shaft sensor.
Yes, but not usually. If the computer is telling you that you have a bad crank position sensor, it could also be a connector or damaged wire. Don't be too literal.
A computer diagnostic test will generally tell you if you have a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
A way to tell if the Crankshaft Position has gone bad is if the engine has a strong kick (Turnover) but, does not fire or start.my 2000 Hyundai accent will not catch fire
Possibly caused by a bad Crank Position Sensor. Could also be the cam position sensor or the coil. They all work together.
Symptoms of a bad crank sensor is hard starting, no starting or rough idle. If you're able to start the engine, and it runs for a few minutes or seconds and then dies out, most likely it's a bad crank position sensor. Also, there may be no spark in some of the spark plugs.
Bad crank position sensor
No, the computer needs that sensor to know crank timing.
your engine will stall. When you try to restart the engine, it will stutter and stall again.
The crank position sensor is the sensor that measures TDC or top dead center of the crankshaft. Its located on the bell housing of the transmission and is a magnet type sensor and measures a toothed ring on the flywheel, can be access ususlly from the top of the engine at the rear/drivers side. they def. go bad and can cause crank/no start complaints......especially when hot!
