You need someone to help you do this. Get a can of starting fliud and spray it into the carburtor while someone cranks the van for you. If the van runs as long as you are spraying the fluid but dies when you stop it means no fuels is reaching the carburtor. You can verify this with a fuel pump tester if you have one. Check to make sure the fuel filter is not plugged before replacing the pump. You can also test your fuel pump by taking the line apart at the fuel filter hold a jar over the end of the line and have someone turn the engine over. You should get gas if the pump is working. Be careful working with gas can cause a fire.
