If you take care in doing it, you should not have to line up any marks. Before you remove the old timing belt, take out the spark plugs to prevent compression from trying to rotate the crank.Line up the cam shaft so that you can maintain its position easily and mark it and the block so you have a line. Then mark the crank and the block so you have a line to guide you by if some part should rotate accidently. You will have to loosen the tensioner then remove the belt. Replace it starting at the top and do not turn any of the parts.
If I am too late, and you have removed the old belt and parts rotated, then you must set everything to tdc. Set the number 1 piston to the top of its stroke, and then aligne the cam so that both valves are closed for number 1 piston. you will then be close for the timing marks on the cam and the crank shaft. They should be close together to be correct. That is both marks should be towards the center of the motor.
4cyl chain, 6cyl belt
It depends on the engine. I have a 2002 Camry XLE with a 4cyl which has VVTi and it has a chain.
4cyl. engine does not have timing belt,6cyl timing belt and water pump should be replaced every 100k miles
belt, 2.4 4cyl has chains, 3.0 or 3.3 v6 uses belts
what is a code 21 on 1993 Toyota Camry 4cyl
The crankshaft position sensor must be behind the timing belt cover next to the crankshaft and behind the crankshaft pulley. The camshaft position sensor is again under the timing belt cover next to the camshaft and behind and the camshaft pulley. Is it the same place in 2000 Camry 4Cyl? Do you have pictures of the location? Hard or easy to replace, and what tools do I need? Thanks alot
No the 4cyl and 6cyl transmissions are different.
There isn't one the vehicle on the vehicle, the 4cyl motor is belt driven and the timing is dictated by having the gears aligned when a tbelt service is done. The timing is also piggy backed by other sensors on the vehicle
Yes. The 4cyl had timing chains
I lined up the marks that i could see,...it started ok ..but number 1 cylinder has 0 compression... figures it bent a valve when the belt broke
2003 Honda accord 4cyl doesnot have a timeingbelt.2003[ 4cyl] and lator have a timing chain that may not need to be replaced ever .
A timing belt. I think the 4cyl 2.4L has timing chain, the 3.0V6 has timing belt.
