sometimes a betta is used to the other food so no matter what you do they will not eat it. but if they are willing you can soak the food in water for 30 to 40 seconds so the food is not so hard or you can gradually add it to the other food you are giving the fish.
When I first got my betta, he did NOT like eating. It might take a couple days for him/her to get used to its new home.Sadly, I have also experienced guppies who do not eat. They usually were ill. Hopefully your betta is not like them.
If you just brought it home then no, as it needs time to settle in to it's new environment. Would you accept food from a starnge perosn in a strange place?? If your betta will not eat his food, you should make sure that you are feeding him the right food. Every other day you should feed him a bit more. They will get to eat a lot, Betta fish are like a pig when they eat their food. Your betta fish could be sick. They usually heal themselves over time.
Typically inflamed gills are a sign of ammonia poisoning. Make sure that you clean the water every few days if your betta is in something smaller than 5 gallons; if you have your betta in something bigger, then you should change 50% of the water each week making sure that the new water is the same temperature as the old, and add in the recommended dosage of water conditioner per the directions on the bottle.
This could be an indicator that he is sick. Immediately go out and get a product called "BettaFix Remedy" Follow the directions carefully for the amount of water you have in your tank or bowl. You can also try something new. If you are using pellets, try Betta flake food instead. For a real treat, frozen bloodworms are definitely worth trying out.
Hi. You can get to know your betta by examining what they do and how they react to things.
Because they think that there will be something new to eat because they are realy hungry.
The Betta Can Be Scared At first But Then They Both May Get Along By:Expert Serena (serenaexpert@yahoo.com)
I heard that when breeding Bettas, The male will chase the female until they are in subjection. My new male Betta is really calm and hasn't chased her or flared up since I got him once! Is there something wrong? Any ideas or suggestions for breeding these fish?
First make sure if you put tap water in there you put water cleanser in there which can be bought at a pet store. Keep your betta in the bag and float it in the tank for 15 min. then without dumping the bag water in the tank use a net to move your betta to the tank.
Well whatever food he was eating first he probably liked best and was used to it so try feeding him that.
With anything new to it's environment, a betta fish will be cautious of anything new to it's tank (this is because of their territorial traits). But depending on the betta, it will take a day or so for it to get used to the props/scenery. But don't be surprised if the betta stays clear of a certain area, he/she may not know if it is safe or not.
A six month old betta is already full grown and able to breed. As long as they're not fancy guppies with long bright fins they may be okay, some bettas are just more aggressive than others.
