How do I line up the timing marks to a 1991 Hyundai Excel (so that I know I've correctly set/repaired the vehicle)?
Because the marks to be aligned are beneath the level of the fender, you need to use a mirror to ensure that the timing marks are properly aligned.
But where do the timing marks have to be lined up with please???
if you are referring to replacing the timing belts, there are settings tha must be set correctly as you are installing the belts.there are marks on the timing pulleys that must be set correctly or the cam and crank will not be timed correctly, and no matter what you do to timing after that it will never be right, unless thses are lined up correctly to start with
Timing marks are not lined up correctly.
or read the sticker in your engine compartment and! on the pully that turns the valves there should be white marks or a type of scrach that should be lined facing up when installing pully
My first thought would be that the timing chain is not installed correctly. It is very hard to get the marks lined up correctly.
It could be the timing chain/sprockets marks are not lined up correctly or the valves are not adjusted correctly.
cam slots need to be lined up.then crank pully key way way on top cener
get the pullys lined up at the timing marks

I dont no
getting the marks aligned correctly is important to insure the amount of power you will have.
Then the engine will not run
The timing marks on a 1992 Hyundai 1.5 are lined up by placing the indicators on the cam sprocket and crankshaft sprocket across from each other. This sets the initial timing which determines which determines the synchronization between the engine's internals.
