How do you open Saab 93 passenger door with the key there is a key hole but the car key is a fob type remote?

The key fob splits apart when you depress the Saab logo and pull the top of the key from the bottom. It's design allows entry when the vehicle/fob battery is dead.

I wanted to add that when you do use the key to unlock the door be prepared to hear your alarm go off. It was quite unnerving the first time I unlocked my door with the key when my fob gave out.

You should have an 'emergency key' that pulls out of the end of the key. The end of passenger door handle should have a hole/slit underneath. Insert a screwdriver and prise flap off and there is a keyhole underneath. Note that this will not deactivate the alarm. The alarm stops when you insert your key into the slot.

This is common in alot of GM cars. For example the Opel Astra (I'm quite sure this isn't distributed in the United States) doesn't have an extetrnal key hole on the passenger door. This is due to the fact that the factory standard key has a remote central locking and there's no reason that one would enter the car from the passenger door unless someone else is driving. I find it irksome at times as my remote central locking doesn't always work and I need to enter through the driver's door to access my glove box. If this bothers you enough you can order a "Holden Colorado" driver side door from Australia (as we drive on the opposite side of the road) and have it fitted. You'll need to have the lock changed too.
