1) Erase all your codes in the Homelink memory by pressing the two side buttons for 20+ seconds until the Homelink light flashes quickly. 2) Press and Hold your wireless garage door opener and the HomeLink button you want to program until the Homelink light flashes quickly. This will setup the Homelink opener temporarily. 3) Located and Press a scan button on the Garage door opener. Now press the button on the Homelink that you selected a few times (usually 5-8 times) until the garage door opens with the Homelink. Now its permanent. - I had this problem myself. I didn't have the wireless garage door opener so I used my keypad outside my home to program the HomeLink.
Built in Explorer garage door openers are Homelink brand. Go to Homelink and it will ask you for vehicle information and garage door information. It will provide the exact step by step.

If the Homelink in your eclipse has an oval LED above the middle button, it does not support rolling codes that most all of the newer garage door openers have. The Homelink systems that have a triangle looking LED seem to be newer and support rolling codes.

1. Turn off engine 2. Prepare transmitter by erasing all three of the factory default channels by holding down the two outside buttons until the red light begins to flash. Release both buttons. 3. Hold the end of your hand-held transmitter (garage door remote) against the Homelink transmitter keeping the red light within the Homelink icon in view. 4. Using both hands push the hand-held transmitter button and the deisre button to be programmed on the Homelink transmitter. Do not release the buttons at this time. 5. Hold down both buttons until the red light on the universal transmitter flashes, first slowly then rapidly. When the light flashes rapidly, release both buttons.
