The 4.0 L has a timing belt. All other engines have a timing chain.
Pull on the belt and you can see how the tensioner moves. Put a wrench on the bolt.

The 1990 dodge caravan has a transverse mounted engine therefore it doesn't have a fan belt!
A 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan has one belt.

Go to www.autozone.com and look under specifications, belt routing. On a 1989 Dodge Grand Caravan, the diagram is on the side of the engine where the S-belt is located.

I cant answer that because alternator tensioner fell off and I'm having trouble finding one.
