Not sure about the EIN, but the VIN is generally stamped on the dashboard of the driver's side. You have to look through the windshield and you will see a small hole in the dash, in it is printed the VIN

go to auto zone to get your check engine light codes read. When it blinks that means there is more than one problem. Those codes will most likely help you figure out why your car is trying to die. I have a '98 Intrepid as well and the array of problems it has is amazing. Good luck...

The codes are read with an OBD2 scanner.
That requires a scan tool.
You need to have a diagnostic meter to read the codes, then book to tell you what they mean.
A sacn tool is required.
