The dipstick on a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle is read by noting the position of the oil in relation to the markings. The oil should be between the full and add marks.
Sportster oil checks are done with the bike on the stand after a complete engine warm up to evenly distribute the 20-50 motoroil throughout. The dipstick will be completely inserted to collect the correct data. New sporties, when the dipstick is completely inserted, it will click and be flush with the oil tank.
The oil dipstick is built into the oil filler cap. Unscrew the cap, pull the dipstick out, wipe it dry and reinsert it. Remove it again to read the oil level.
To read the oil dipstick in the 1997 Ford F150, remove the dipstick from the oil reservoir. Wipe the dipstick clean and then place it back into the reservoir. Then, remove the dipstick again and look for the height of the oil on the stick. It should be in the "Full" range.

Open the bonnet. Get a dipstick and clean it well. Insert the dipstick entirely into the oil tank. Remove it carefully and read the oil level.
you have to look for the line near the bottom of the dipstick and if the oil is up to the line that means it is full enough.
