All of the Lincoln (and many late model Fords) are filled from below the vehicle through the bottom of the pan. If you jack the car up, the instructions are on the bottom of the transmission. In theory, if you need to add fluid, there is a problem and you should have someone qualified look at it.

If its a manual transmission any 5w-30 oil will work fine. However I personally use Honda's specific manual transmission fluid, available at any Honda dealership.

You can buy a manual on line fot the specific automobile you have that has all the answers to servicing that certain make and model. My husband just boutgh one for his auto to find out how to drain and refill the transmission fluid.
All Lincoln LS transmissions are sealed. There is no dipstick to check fluid.
As far as I know there is no automatic transmission fluid level dipstick on a Lincoln LS , the dealer has a way of checking from underneath the car
