I dont know what service you have, but for DirecTV, go to menu>Parental, fav's & setup>highlight and click set up>go to network>advanced set-up. Here, you can enter in your IP and all that good stuff. If you have Verizon FiOS, Youl have to have a Tech come out and enter it in for you, scince they have a special access card to do this. Hope this helps and good luck!
It's not true. You can use a dynamic ip address to use remote desktop! Problem with dynamic ip addresses is that it can be changed any time, and you will not able to connect to your PC. The best way is to use full computer name. It does not depend on ip address.
My Dish Network receiver is connected to my home LAN and the internet via TCP/IP for remote control of my DVR, on-demand movie downloads, etc. IIRC, there's a place in the Dish OnLine menu to get the receiver to request an IPv4 address from a DHCP server. If there's no IP address, then there's no remote control, online movies, etc. I'd bet that DirecTV has a similar setup.
If you are connecting to a Remote PC or DVR recorder with security cameras connected to it then you would need to know the IP address of the DVR location. After you figure out the IP address for your security cameras you would need to login to the router at the security cameras location and forward the Port Number. A local IP address (your computer) and a remote IP address (the destination computer).
Remote desktop needs the IP Address to locate the computer Because having a static IP address means that this IP address is permanent and will never change unless the administrator changes it. On the other hand, having a Dynamic IP address that changes everyday or when the adminsitrator decides to change the settings, makes it very difficult to access a computer at home or remotely.
The IP register contains the address of the next instruction to fetch and execute. Normally, IP is incremented by the number of bytes in the instruction after execution of that instruction, unless a transfer of control occurs, in which case IP is loaded with a new value.
As soon as it communicates with a remote server, the server allocates a unique IP address in order to identify the individual computer.
IP cameras are the best way to be able to check in on things at home while in a remote location. IP cameras work by plugging directly into a DVR(records video that you will be able to watch at a later time) or computer, and as long as you have internet access, you can view the feed from any remote location.
The web site will have a cookie that it puts on your PC for information and it will usually give them your IP address. IN the internet world your IP address is like your Home address.
It's beauty of DHCP servers that you don't need to worry about your IP settings. Nothing will happend to your ip address configuration. But you might get another ip address when you next time connect your PC to the network. It's not a big deal unless you are using ip address in the Remote Desktop Manager.
Enter the printer's IP address in your web browser. This will open the Remote User Interface.
