How do you release a stuck headlight on a 1977 Corvette so it will go down?

with engine off and in park of course , no power needed , reach up behind parking light and pull down on hinge about center of light until it releases from locked position kind of like an elbow if you will , then best to let the light close by itself with engine vacuum.
