From the upright position, push the armrest in towards the seat and rotate it backwards a few inches. It will pop off when it is in the right spot. Be careful not to lose the curved washer that goes on the pin as you will need that to reinstall the armrest.

To remove the arm rest, peel back the velcro at the base of the arm rest, peeling back the cover and revealing the bolt. Then, simply loosen the bolt using a Torx bit size T60 I believe, and that should remove the arm rest.
