In the gas tank. Book procedure for replacing: Remove the negative battery cable. Relieve the fuel system fuel pressure. Remove the rear compartment trim panel - Rear in Body Rear End. Remove the nuts retaining the fuel sender access panel. Remove the fuel sender access panel. Disconnect the fuel sender electrical connectors. Clean the fuel pipes and the fuel sender assembly to prevent fuel contamination during the removal. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings at the fuel sender assembly. Remove fuel sender snap ring retaining the fuel sender. Remove the modular fuel sender assembly. Clean and inspect the O-ring sealing surfaces of the fuel sender assembly . Important Always replace the fuel sender O-rings when reinstalling the fuel sender assembly. The modular fuel sender assembly will spring-up when the snap ring is removed. When removing the modular fuel sender assembly from the fuel tank, the reservoir bucket on the fuel sender assembly is full of fuel. The modular fuel sender assembly must be tipped slightly during removal in order to avoid damage to the float. Place any remaining fuel into an approved container once the modular fuel sender assembly is removed from the fuel tank. Always maintain cleanliness when servicing the fuel system components. Care should be taken not to fold over or twist the fuel pump strainer when installing the fuel sender assembly, as this will restrict fuel flow. Also, ensure that the fuel pump strainer does not block full travel of float arm. Ensure that the snap ring retaining the fuel sender assembly is fully seated within the tab slots on the fuel tank. Position the new fuel sender assembly O-ring on the fuel tank. Install the fuel sender assembly into the fuel tank. The Fuel Sender Assembly is spring loaded, it will be necessary to hold the sender in place. Install the snap ring retaining the fuel sender assembly . Connect the fuel sender assembly electrical connectors. Install the quick-connect fittings at the fuel sender assembly. Connect the negative battery cable. Perform the following procedure to check for fuel leaks: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for 2 seconds. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF for 10 seconds. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position again. Visually inspect the fuel system for fuel leaks. Install the fuel sender access panel. Good Luck!

LOCATE THE FUEL TANK IN QUESTION .i PERSONALLY LIKE TO REMOVE THE BED OF THE TRUCK TO ACCESS THE FUEL TANK TO MAKE THE PROCCESS EASIER. THEN REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AND FUEL LINES THEN REMOVE THE RETAINING RING THEN THE SENDER.
Obviously the tank has to be removed. 4 TIMES 13MM SOCKET BOLTS..REMOVE THEM This drops the tank down. Fuel filler and breather pipe(next to each other)..remove them. Then the fuel delivery/return pipes off the sender. and fuel gauge wire off the sender. pull the tank out and the sender just screws out. Money saved on repairs can then be wasted in the pub or betting shop...;)
Can be found in a Cadillac shop manual. I'll tell you its located in the fuel tank. Necessary tt remove fuel and drop tank. Then remove fuel sender unit with special tool. Atteched to the sender is the fuel pump
It could be a faulty unit or a disconnected connection (oxymoron?). I would need to know the car and year to give you specific instructions on how to go about checking the connection. You could remove the fuel tank to access the fuel sender. However if you remove the carpet in the boot there is a rectangular template marked on the floor. Cut this out and you can remove the fuel guage sender. Once the cause of the problem has been rectified, make up a hinge and fastner arrangement for future access.
Empty the fuel tank, disconnect your battery (+ and -), take down the tank, disconnect the connector of the sender and the 2 fuel pipes. Then unscrew the sender assembly out of the tank. You have the pump, the strainer and the level sensor.
supposedly there is a cover in the trunk that you can remove to access the top of the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump and sender
If you lift up the boot carpet, there is a black disc with 3 retaining screws to the right of the boot. Unscrew these and remove the black cover plate. Underneath is the top of the fuel tank. The conector has four wires, two for the actuall fuel pump and two for the sender unit (This is for the fuel guage) This connector is plugged into the top of the fuel pump that sits in the tank, remove large plastic nut to remove fuel pump and sender unit.
the fuel pump is located under the fuel lid remove the lid and you will see a square plate with bolts remove bolts and pump sender comes out change pump then reassemble
The fuel filter is located in the fuel sender assembly, inside the fuel tank. Vehicles with dual tanks, have no fuel filter in the rear tank fuel sender assembly.
Remove fuel tank Remove fuel tank sender and fuel pump assembly usually by removing a locking ring, replace pump using supplied hardware and replacement line. Reverse to install
