I am about to begin removing my 1992 Miata gas tank...the manual says it is quite involved. You will need to remove the tank from the bottom, which means having the car elevated. Then the main bar that goes from the transmission to the differential must be removed, it is called a torque arm. This requires a jack under the transmission otherwise damage can occur, also the differential must be removed along with the drive shaft. There are so many steps involved I would recommend you buy a manual to complete the job.
