How do you remove a door panel from a 1997 Ford Expedition?

Very simple. Be patient and very careful. First, the "corner" trim piece covering mirror bolts needs to come off. Pull straight up. Pry upward using plastic putty knife or similar. Next pop the window/lock switch up and out (I disconnected the wire harness to have movement of panel after poped out). Third is the marker/reflector light lens comes off. The last and hardest part is the trim ring around the door open latch/handle.(this is difficult to get off the handle but if rotated just right it will fall off in your hand). Now to the easy part the mirror cover has 1 Phillips screw under it (pointing toward outside of truck). Next is 1 screw inside cavity of door lock/window switches. Third one is in cavity of light. Just 3 screws and viola` grasp the closing handle and pull straight up. That is it. Now, in reverse to put back BUT notice your lock stem, glass squeege, and those little "L" shaped plastic clips on the inside of panel itself. Those clips must engage in slots on structure of door itself.BEFORE PUSHING DOWNWARD.The rear is almost the same but it has an exposed screw at bottom of panel as well as the one in the switch cavity. Be careful with these screws and re-install them first. If you don't and then drop one you have to remove the others and retrieve it from inside door then start over.
