I just removed my door panel to install a window power lift motor. It is not complicated. You will need to locate several screws that hold the panel in place. There is a screw on both ends of the door at the top of the panel near the top of the panel. The caps on handle to pull the door closed should be popped out to reveal two long screws, remove these. I believe there is only one other screw that is holding the cover for the door handle. Remove and remove the plastic cover. Check to see if there are additional screws. If all is clear, you can try to place you fingers at the bottom of the panel and push up. There are 3 or 4 clips at the bottom of the door that fit into holes that can only be removed by lifting upward. Once you have moved the panel upward, you can pull the panel at the top up and toward you to clear the clips on the top of the door. Once you have panel clear, you will see several wire harness that can be disconnected. Careful, don't break the clips they can be tricky. Good luck.

You must remove the door panel. The large majority of the panel is held in by plastic pins on the inside that you can just snap off. There are 2 screws under the handle and if it is a manual window crank that must also be removed to get the panel off.
