2005 5.3 trailblazer I have removed the ground wire , power wire and lower 2 bolts on the front, but it seems that something is still holding the alternator in place. Can you tell me what else I need to loosen to get the altnator to come loose?
First you need to remove the negitive battery cable. Then you need to remove the a/c line bracket. it is attached to the right side on the motor. unscrew the lift hook from the right side of the engine. Remove the electric plug and battery cable from the alternator. Unbolt the alternator and remove.
REMOVE ALTERNATOR FROM DRIVERS SIDE OF ENGINE BLOCK.
it is on the drivers side behind the alternator right above the thermostat. you will need to remove the serpentine belt and the alternator for easier access. bottom bolt for the alternator is a little difficult to remove bcuz of the a/c hose and oh you will also have to remove the engine hoist hook above the alternator to access the bolts for the alternator.

The thermostat is located below the alternator on the drivers side. The coolant sensor is right above the thermostat.
