Have to pull the engine first and put it on a stand (or work with it on the hoist while it moves around)... Pulling the engine and putting it back is the hard part. The pan is easy... to remove the oil pan, you just remove the screws holding it on the block... they're all on the rail where the pan meets the block. And the different engine have a different number of screws but there's probably about 20-22 screws in total. You can't do this while the engine is in the car... not enough clearance.

If the engine has been modified and a newer deep sump oil pan has been installed then you must follow the instructions that came with the pan or contact the manufacturer.
If you look at the bottom side of the oil pan you will see a drain plug. Remove it. The oil pan is bolted to the bottom of the engine.
