Hi there,
Your cam drive pully system should be located directly in behind your alternator and head gaskets. If this is not the case, do not start your car as spontaneous compustion may occur. Take the necessary precautions in order to ensure your safety. If you find it in the above location, then you will need to unscrew all the 13 screws around your suspension coil and slowly drop your cam drive pulley out.
I may also recommend that your burn to the ground your rubbish Cadillac devile and invest an a non-American piece of patriacal crap automobile, dare i suggest, an Aston Martin.
Use a puller so you do not bend the pulley.
remove the old one, remove the drive pulley. install the drive pulley on the new alternator, lock the shaft with an allen or drill bit thru the housing hole, torq the drive pulley nut, install it like the old one was installed.
1) Rotate drive belt tensioner mechanism upward, away from drive belt using a 1/2 inch breaker bar. 2) Remove serpentine drive belt. 3) Reverse procedure to install.
If you are referring to the Serpentine belt, you loosen no pulley. You simply remove tension from the belt. The tension is applied by the Idler Pulley. Pry the idler back and remove the belt.If you are referring to the Serpentine belt, you loosen no pulley. You simply remove tension from the belt. The tension is applied by the Idler Pulley. Undo the hoses remove drive belts from pulleys undo pulley bolt and remove pulley no special tool needed should slide off remove bolts at front of pump remove pump
This requires a special tool to remove and install the pulley. Most auto parts stores should have one in stock Best to remove the pulley with the pump removed from the engine compartment.
When looking at the engine from the front, the tension pulley is the only wheel on the drive belt that has the belt on the inside of it. All of the other pulleys have the belt going around the top of the pulley. The tension pulley has a bolt that can be loosened and then tightened to remove the drive belt.
Set the parking brake and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the cutting deck and the battery. Loosen the pulley and remove the upper belt. Remove the belt guide and the belt keeper. Loosen the bolt on the crankshaft pulley. Remove the lower drive belt.
remove drive belt and check all pulley wheels for freedom of movement sounds like a pulley wheel is bad, probably the belt tensioner pulley
If in fact the only thing that needs to be replaced is the pulley, you will have find a method of holding the pulley so that it cannot turn and remove the four small bolts that holds it on to the water pump pulley shaft. If the pulley appears to be bent or not straight, chances are the water pump shaft bushing is worn. If this is the case, the entire water pump must be replaced. If you are getting coolant seepage it is most likely the bushing.
orilleys auto parts has eveything you need, except for the water pump drive pulley the big plastic one that melts at the nearest sign of an issue I have only been able to locate those new from dealerships, used on e-bay, and in junkyards used they average about 35 bucks new average is about 50 bucks for the drive pulley
The drive belt is Serpentine so all you have to do is grab a 14mm socket and turn counter clockwise. This will force the pulley down enabling you to remove the belt.
