It is best to fully remove door from Jeep. Remove all door pannels. Once you get the pannels off remove cotter pin from actuator rod that is connected to the paddle handle. Then using a long flat head screw driver and a hammer tap 2 small flat steel springs out of place or off of the serrated steel holding brackets. (you will have to align the flat head screw driver on the end that almost makes a complete circle and you might have to use some manual force, also keep the serrated holding brackets as you will need them to install the new handles.) Once you have the flat steel springs out you can then tap the serrated holding brackets out using your flat head screw driver or you can pull them out the opposite direction. Which ever you find to be easier. Once the serrated holding brackets have been removed you can tap lightly on the handle from inside the door with your hammer and the handle will almost fall out (you may have to wiggle it a little). This should work on all jeep paddel handles from 1979 up to 1988 or at least that's as far as I can tell from expierence.
Remove door panel Remove Latch cover Remove cotter pin holding latch bar to handle actuator--move bar to the side Remove two clips on the left and right side of handle look at new handles to determine how clips are removed Slide key toward top of door on each side (this may be difficult, but they will slide up--use manual persuasion if necessary) Slide old handle out and remove the tin trim ring from around it. Place the ring around the new handle, and replace handle in door (Leave the retaining clips on the new handle) Slide the keys down until it will move no more--then gently tap down a little with some more manual persuasion. Replace the actuator bar and cotter pin, and put everything back together.
they generally have horseshoe clips behind the handles.bend an old coathanger and get between the handle and the door panel.look for the clip and gently pull it out
no, you can buy a replacement door handle on eBay and remove door panel and just watch your plastic clips.
This is not a job for the faint hearted. You will need a lot of patience and dextrous fingers. Remove the interior door panels...look into the handle area and spot the 3 small nuts that hold the handles to the door skin..remove and save... locate operating rod clips, release, ease handle out from door, locate loom connectors for lock barrel heater and lock control, they are secured from being trapped by the window in a small clip...... disconnect and remove handle. Reassembly is reverse of removal plus a little more fiddling about !.
You will need to remove the door panel. There are two 10mm nuts you will need to remove, then disconnect the clip that holds the wire to the handle and push the clips holding the handle to the door outward being careful that to break the clips. Replace in the reverse.
remove the outside handle by lifting the handle up and removing the small clip in the underside of the handle The inside door handle? remove the screw pull towards the front then out and release the clips holding the lock and open rods
it is held in by plastic clips.remove all these clips. you also have to take cover over buttons for window and door locks. should be one screw holding it in place. i just replaced 2 door handles on my 1995. if you wish to replace door handles your going to have to drill out pop ribbot in door handle.
You will probably have to remove the whole inside door panel in order to remove the handle. The panels are usually held in place with screws or plastic clips. A Haynes Manual might be helpful.
you need to remove the inside door panel to get access to the inside, remove the clips holding the door handle assembly and the whole thing comes off
Stick a small screwdriver or other thin object into the inside of the ring around the interior door handle to pry the clips.

Most are just held in place with clips & just pop off after you remove handles, etc. Pry on a corner & see if this is method of retention on yours.
