Its a royal pain in the butt. BTW a new cd player will not fit in the hole. A lot of people mount a new radio down below the oil guage. either hole isnt big enough so youll have to do some modification/ fabrication to make a new stereo work. Okay so here goes. pull the knobs off the a/c controls. take the two screws out that hold the a/c control thing on, unplugg the a/c light and ac switch and get that outta the way. Pull out the ash tray. There are 3 screws, one is ovious, one is above the cigarette lighter, and the other is in the back and next to impossible to get at. That one holds part of the ash tray assembly. Once you've got all three out it will jiggle on out of there. Oh and getting the a/c plastic to go back over all four switches is a pain in the butt too. Have fun I just did mine this afternoon on my 1985 720.
