Drain the water from your 1988 Dodge Ram cooling system. Remove the water pump belt. Remove the water return hose. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new water pump.
What about it? Remove the fan shroud, remove the fan itself, unbolt the water pump.

loosen the idler pulley and then remove the belt. then you remove the fan shroud i believe its like 4 bolts, then you remove the fan. after that you can remove the water pump.
The water pump is driven by the pulley and serpentine belt on the left side of the engine. You'll need to remove the water pump pulley to access the water pump housing bolts. You may need to remove other pulleys to access the bolts. Replace the water pump gasket to prevent leaks.
the water pump runs off the timing belt....you have to remove the timing belt cover to access the water pump
Drain the coolant, remove belt, remove two bolts & water pump. Clean the sealing surfaces. Reinstall in reverse order
