well you have to remove all the screws that you can see, once you do that theres four that you cannot see, ones in the top of the panel under the plastic where the seat belt goes in not all of the plastic just the middle cover its cliped in, anoth(pops right off with a flat head screw driver), then the gray plastic comes off when you depress the clips at the top and bottom and it should pop off there is a screw under that, another of the hidden screws is a torx im not sure of the size because the screw driver I used did not say but I think its around 20? its located in the bottom right of the handle where the far top Right of the speaker meets the handle, this screw is at an angle, you'll also have to remove your window button panel held with 2 smaller torx clearly visible, once you remove that there is a rather large torx screw under that you should find it quickly its not that hidden, after you remove all the screws the panel will still e rather tight from the clips you'll have to carefully remove these from the panel without breaking the panel, they wont simply slide off you'll have to replace these if you want factory tightness you can find some at pepboys or you can just forget about them and just screw the panel back on making it easier to remove in the future, also be careful not to over tighten any thing or else you'll strip the holes and you'll be in a world of trouble,
good luck!
when I answered this i forgot to put I did not re use the clips but I added an extra screw to the bottom of the panel for a more secure fit.
You have to remove the door panels
Remove the dash pad, then remove the speakers from the dash frame. For the rear speakers, open the trunk and remove the brackets, that hold the speakers in place. not for the back speakers ..you have to remove the lower rear seat then remove the seat belts then the rear seat back then remove the header panels in the back seat then remove the deck cover ..the rear speakers are bolted in from the top down under the rear deck cover....and the front speakers i believe are mounted in the door panels in the front doors ..you have to remove the door panels to remove them .some do have them in the dash also if they are there u do as the person stated before me.
First you want to remove your back seat by grasping it firmly and pulling up. Then you want to take off your interior trim panels. Now you will remove your rear deck which will expose your speakers. When I replaced mine I dropped four bolts down into the holes and put my new speakers in through the trunk. This would save you much more time if you ever need to replace them again.
Gentle start on the fabric panel when the speaker cover is located and pull a small portion at a time.
== == My husband and I recently replaced all of the speakers in our 1996 Grand Am and it was A PAIN! Just make sure that you really really really want to replace those speakers, because it's a bit of a fight to get it done. You literally have to remove all of the panels from inside the back seat area, but FIRST you have to remove the back seat altogether! Once you get the seat out, the rest starts to form a picture of itself in the mind, because you can see all of the screws (finally) and kind of get a picture of what comes next. As the answer below states, you will have to remove the rear window sill to get at the screws; Just keep in mind that the window 'sill' cover is in NO WAY accessible until the ENTIRE back seat COMES OUT! Good Luck! * Some speakers have a spring clip holding them and some have screws which means if they are screwed down you can tell by looking inside the trunk you will have to remove the cover in your rear window sill to access the screws. The front speakers require removing the door panels to access them.

how to take the door panel off of a 2004 grand am
How do you replace the panels on the outside of a 1995 pontiac Grand am?
I have a 2000 Grand Prix which I believe has the same type of door panel. There are 2 Torx Head screws that are behind the two plastic plugs behind the door pull handle. Once these are removed, just pull out the panel aby pulling round the outside of the panel.
depending on which you are trying to change i know the rear seat needs to be removed to access the rear speakers. there is no other way to remove the rear dash and or grilles
I'm fixing to replace mine and I'm guessing you remove the rear seat both parts and pop up the dash back there
You need to remove the rear seat to access the speakers and remove the covers.
