Remove the inside door panel from your 1984 Chevy Caprice. Remove the door handle linkage. Remove the door handle retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new exterior door handle.

The fuse panel is located int he inside of the hood. Open the hood and at the top right hand side it should be located there.
The fiberglass panel at the side of the battery has to be removed and the battery is removed sideways. I wouldn't remove the panel entirely,I would remove the top bolts on the side panel and remove the ones on the fender weld. At the bottom of the side panel where the gap is,I would just loosen it so the panel can fall outwards, this will allow you to work the battery outwards, may have to tip it to get out and tip it again to get it back in.
on my 1985 Lincoln town car i had to remove the dash and get back to the firewall and remove a panel on the firewall to get to it. good luck it is a pain.
You can find the 1984 Ford voltage regulator on the inside front quarter panel. The voltage regulator will be on the drivers side quarter panel.
YOU MUST REMOVE THE DASH AND THEN THE HEATER BOX, 82 MUSTANGS USED TO HAVE AN ACCESS PANEL BUT NOT YOURS, IT IS A LONG JOB IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT BEFORE
Remove the door panel/handle/surround Roll the window down if possible Remove the trim strips - inside & out -CAREFULLY - they just pop off the top of the door but it is scary at first Loosen the two screws inside the channel on the regulator holding the window to the regulator - they will probably be quite tight Rotate the glass and remove it from the door square end - back - first Reverse the procedure to re-install and be sure you pay attention to where everything goes. Good luck
It is behind the instrument panel - you must remove the steering wheel, then the instrument cluster to get to it
Socio-Economic Panel was created in 1984.
if your switch is located on the dash on the left side on the steering column, you will need to remove the access panel(s) under the column and carefully remove the wiring plug from the back of the switch. You should then be able to very carefully squeeze the tension tangs on the top and bottom of the switch (again, from behind the dash) and carefully push the switch through the hole. If the switch is located on the heater control panel above the radio, you must remove the entire radio assembly, then remove the heater control panel being VERY careful to not break the clips that hold the control cables to the control panel. There will be very little room to move the panel around until you free the cables from the panel. Once you have the cables free, you can remove the tension washers to remove the vacuum lines and remove the wiring harnesses. You may also need to remove the control panel from the face plate to access the screws that hold the defrost switch. Reverse the procedure for reinstallation.
