Sounds silly but try perfume/aftershave! They may work as they have a high alcohol content. You would be better to try a bit of rubbing alcohol as it will not have dye or other chemicals in it that can increase the possibility of damage to the finish of the lamp.
Remove the connector from the back of your 1997 VW Jetta side marker lamp. Take hold of the side marker lamp, push in and turn at the same time. The lamp will come out. Reverse the process to install the new side marker lamp.
in order to change a side marker lamp on a jeep grand cherokee, you must remove the actual headlamp via the bolts on top and the one underneath... fairly easily accesible. then there is one bolt on the top side ot the marker lamp and one from behind that can only be accesible after the headlamp is removed, sounds harder then it actually is, take the headlight out and it will be foolproof from there
Easy one. Raise hood. Remove one screw at top of of light. Lift up on lamp and pull out exposing lamp connector. Turn counter clockwise and remove from housing. Pull out Bulb and replace.
The owner's manual has the procedure. Hint: The head lamp assembly has to be rotated forward out of the grill first. 1. remove 2 small bolts and black shield on the top of the head lamp assembly 2. pull up on the 2 one-inch wide black clips in back of the head lamp, only pull an inch or so to unlock the head lamp, do not completely remove them. 3. evenly ease the head lamp forward and let it hand down 4. remove 2 small bolts holding the side marker assembly 5. pull on the side marker assembly, it will pop out 6. rotate and pull out bulb holder. 7. bulb is a 194, same as the license marker bulbs. 8. reverse steps to re-assemble Did this today, 10/9/2008, instructions worked. The bolts were all 5.5 mm.
I recommend you remove the signal lights, so you have more room to squeeze your hand between the metal bracket and headlight. Needle nose pliers didn't work for me, so I used my left hand for driver side, and right hand for passenger side. Good luck.
On my 94 Explorer, you get access from the outside. The frame that holds the front side marker lamp and the parking lamp (but not the headlight) pivots out, giving you access to the front side marker lamp. Pop the hood, look under the front rubber flap near the headlight, and remove the 2 screws that hold the frame in place. Then, pull the frame towards the front of the vehicle, it will pivot out about 2 inches. Look inside the area that opened up, you'll see the plastic assembly where the lamp is mounted. Grab the assembly, push it forward a bit, turn the assembly a bit (I think counter clockwise), the assembly will pop out. Replace the lamp, and put everything back together.
open the hood and there should be a black panel covering the access to the headlight assembly. remove this cover and you will see a 11 milimeter nut on a screw pointing directly to the center of the car (its attached to the side light) remove this nut. on the outside of the side marker light, there is a screw by the Lincoln emblem. remove this screw completely. now, pull the side leadlight assembly out a little and remove the socket holding the bulb to the side marker and snap the bulb out. simple procedure.
raise hood, remove two small screws holding small black shield cover on top headlamp. Remove set screw that holds lamp in place then on each sside there's a slide that will release the headlamp and it will then come out so you can get to the marker light (amber color lens).

no because when you remove the lamp the circuit is still open; even if the switch is on
There are two screws attaching the assembly. The first is at the top just inside the corner edge of the hood area. The other one is located between the gap of the parking lamp and the turn signal. Use a screwdriver with a slender shaft.
tke a screwdriver and remove the screws and take out the tail lamp. otherewise take a hammer and break the tail lamp
