To remove the window in the rear hatch of a 1989 Ford Bronco, the weather stripping around the window will have to be pulled back or pushed down slightly. This can be accomplished with a straight screwdriver or a putty knife.
It is located in the rear tailgate. Remove the inner panel and the support bracket on the right hand side to see it.
Look on the inside of the talegate for a panel that is screwed on. Remove the screws and you should be able to get inside.

If its the bronco XLT you'll have to take the tail gate paneling off the inside. The motor, gears, etc. for the rear window are located in there. I had the same problem with mine sometime back.
Remove panel on rear door. Also remove small rear access panel. Unplug the two wire connector cable that's connected to the rear window motor. With a cable connected to your battery apply voltage to the window motor connector in either polarity, the window will travel up or down, depending on which way you connect the battery cable. Most of the time the problem is the limit switch inside the rear door... is defective

yes, you must remove the door panel and remove the window motor bolts enough to move the window freely, once you have it up you can put the window motor back in in order to hold it in place. it works if you get the teeth lined up trust me i just did it :)
