take the 6 nuts off each exhaust pipe (3 on each side) called exhaust y-pipe..(pain in the ass)!! lol... and u should get access to get it out..its the way they are designed...
Starter located under seat. Remove Filter Box then unhook cable from battery and hot terminal from starter. Remove two screws from end of starter and pull out, a screwdriver may be needed. You may have to loosen oil steel lines to allow room for starter to come out.
# Disconnect negative battery cable # Raise and support car on jackstands # Remove the brackets supporting the starter # Remove the 2 starter motor to engine bolts and let the starter drop down far enough to allow removal of the nuts attaching the wires to the starter solenoid and battery cable # Separate the starter from the engine
REMOVAL 2.4L 4-Cylinder Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove solenoid wire from solenoid terminal (STARTER ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS - 2.4/3.7L). Remove battery cable from stud on starter solenoid (STARTER ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS - 2.4/3.7L). Remove 2 starter mounting bolts (STARTER - 2.4L) and remove starter from vehicle. 3.7L V-6 Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove 2 flange bolts securing left exhaust downpipe to crossover pipe. Lower pipe slightly to allow front propeller shaft removal. Remove front propeller shaft. Remove 2 starter heat shield bolts at side of starter (STARTER HEAT SHIELD - 3.7L). Remove starter heat shield nut at front of starter (STARTER HEAT SHIELD - 3.7L). Remove starter heat shield. Remove solenoid wire from solenoid terminal (STARTER ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS - 2.4/3.7L). Remove battery cable from stud on starter solenoid (STARTER ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS - 2.4/3.7L). Remove 2 starter mounting bolts (STARTER - 3.7L). Position front of starter to face rear of vehicle. Rotate starter until solenoid position is located below starter. Remove starter from vehicle by passing it between exhaust pipe and transmission bellhousing.
the easiest way is to remove the oil filter and install the starter from the bottom of the car I removed the intake manifold to allow easier acces to the starter.
The starter lives next to the Bell Housing on the right side of the block and is held in place with two Torx Head bolts.However......the Engine Mount Arm and Isolator Mount on that side needs to be removed first to allow the Starter to be removed. You cannot remove the Starter unless this is done....even with the engine out of the chassis.Always remove the BATTERY - NEGATIVE clamp before working on the Starter.
Remove Exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold, then disconnect exhaust pipe at the point just beyond the catalytic converter. Remove pipe from vehicle to allow clearance to remove starter. their are two bolts on the bottom pull those they should be 5/8 pull all electrical connections then their will be a stabalizer bar on the eng. pull that one more bracket at back of starter. If you can not remove the rear bracket bolt because the engine mount is in the way, you may have to lift the engine to allow for clearance.
to remove the starter on the 4.3 Blazer, remove all the bolts EXCEPT THE UPPERMOST ONE on the driver's side, on the flywheel housing. this will allow you to slide the housing about 1/2" - 3/4" back, and the starter will drop free. then it's a few twist and jiggling so you can get to the lugs that hold the wiring in place. it's easier to get the starter bolts back in if you put the housing back to where it will keep the starter from dropping. I just went thru this yesterday - I looked it up on the internet; "remove starter on 4.3 Blazer".
Jack up the driverside of car if not using a lift to allow enough room to get under. There are two bolts that will need to be removed which are accessable from the bottom only (15mm). Remove the wires from the starter from the top side of the car. The starter can be removed from the bottom of the car, will take some effort to get past the ac line but will not hurt anything. good luck!
Remove the oil pan shield then the bar running perpendicular to the sterring column. This will allow you access to remove the starter from the bottom of the vehicle.
Zoning laws in large land tracts that allow for suburban development keep large industries from locating in largely single-family developments. Suburban zoning laws allow for offices, retail, or even light industrial development in suburban areas.
go to the parts store, buy a starter, go back to the ailing vehicle, remove old starter,NOW you can install the new starter...hope this helps dooooooood. If its a 2 wd, The starter can come out the bottom, fairly easily, If it is a 4wd, You will have to: Remove the front skid plate, Drop the front steering linkage ( remove the nuts, Put a pickle fork in and smack till they pop free ) This will allow you the required room to pull the starter out from the front of the engine area. Once you've got the starter in a decent spot, Dissconnect the wireing to it. Pull it out ( after many curses and skinned knuckles.) OR you can Drop the whole 4wd assembaly ( 8 + hours ) OR remove the passanger front tire, Dissconnect all the brakelines to make room, And try to weezel it out between the body and frame.
Some GM starters use a washer that makes it very difficult to remove unless you hold the back side of the bolt. Disconnect the positive battery cable and make sure it will not contact the positive battery post. Now remove the bolts holding the starter in place. This will allow you to get the starter in a position where you can easily access the bolts holding the wires in place. Be careful and do not damage the wiring.
