Remove two screws located on the inner side tail light assembly w/ trunk open. Pull taillight assembly straight off; you may need to utilize a wedge to gently work the top and bottom of assembly away from vehicle on outer side. Once removed, twist the top light cover counter clockwise and pull to access lightbulb. It is also best to not do this on a bright day as it is difficult to see whether or not the brake light is functioning properly.
The brake light assembly can be access through the cargo compartment. Remove the cover to the brake light assembly. Take hold of the brake light connector, push in and turn at the same time. The brake light will come out. Reverse the process to install the new brake light.
The center brake light replacement will require replacing the entire brake light assembly. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the center brake light retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new center brake light.
Remove the two screws in the lens. You can remove the entire assembly once you do this.
To replace the brake light bulb you need to remove the whole light assembly. Once removed the change is simple.
Remove the wiring harness from the high mount brake light. Remove the back cover of the brake light assembly. Take hold of the brake light connector, push in and turn at the same time. Reverse the process to install the new brake light.
Just unscrew the two hex screws.Pull tail light out.locate bulb assembly and twist then remove bulb.Replace new bulb.Put back in reverse order.
You must remove the entire light assembly as follows: Lower the tail gate and remove the two small screws that screw into the side of the assembly. Next remove the two screws on the outside of the assembly that are accessible through long holes on the outside of the assembly. Pull the assembly back to expose the rear where the lights are located.
If you want to change the brake light, you will need a Torx screwdriver. You will also have to open your trunk and remove the lens cover assembly.
Open tailgate and you will find two bolts that hold brake/tail light assembly in place. Remove the two bolts and the assembly can be pulled out. Turn the brake light base counterclockwise a quarter turn, pull the bulb out directly, snap the new one in and then re-install the light assembly unit.
Open trunk and remove screws that secure light assembly to car. Pull assembly straight back to remove from car. Remove the dead light and replace with proper new light. Install in reverse order of removal.
You can access the brake light bald through the trunk compartment. Remove the trunk liner from the tail light assembly. Push the brake light connector in and turn at the same time. The brake lightbulb will come out. Reverse the process to install the new brake light
The way that you change a high mount brake light on a 2007 Taurus is by first prying the light assembly from the housing. You then push rearward to remove it from the retaining clips. Next, life the light assembly from the shelf and disconnect the assembly wiring. Replace the light assembly and reverse directions to put the light housing back where it goes.
