Usually one removes the bed of the truck to work on anything with in the fuel tank. Like replacing the fuel pump.
re: you have to have a tool av. @ any part store fuel line disconect tools they slip in the fuel line on top of the tank you get a whole fuelpump assy. already together when you buy the pump so i have found it is just as easy to cut the white plastic just past the end of the lines on top of the tank then use the disconect tool to take the short pice of the plastic out the way the pump assy. is made not much room then its just a big snapring to get the pump assy. out when going back together grease the big o ring it will make it easer to push the pump assy. back in
it is just a bunch of bolts very easy climb under there i think there all either 10mm or 3/8 then it comes right off

Have a fuel pressure test run.
Remove the water return line from your 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck water pump. Remove the water pump belt. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.
use a flathead screw driver to take the center of the pushin clips out and pull the push in clips out
