You MUST remove the fuel tank to service the pump.

If there is an access panel in the trunk or under the rear seat you may not have to remove than tank. Otherwise the fuel tank will have to be removed to access the fuel pump. Be sure and change the fuel filter.
The fuel pump relay of a 1983 Chevy Camaro can be found inside the relay fuse block. It provides power to the fuel pump.
Find them and remove them
The fuel pump is down in the gas tank. Remove the tank and you will see where the fuel pump is plugged in. Just remove the bolts and unplug everything and reverse the procedure with your new pump.
Remove the gas cap. Look for a schrader valve on the fuel rail to release the pressure. If there is none then wrap the fuel filter connection and be prepared for a spray of fuel.
