Buy a split boot from the parts store- that way you won't have to remove the shaft.

As long as you have the half shaft out, why not replace it since there is probably some damage to it from having a damaged boot?

If you mean the door lock cylinder...remove the interior door panel. On the back of the door handle there are 2 10mm hex bolts. To the outer edge of the door there is an access hole. With an extension, remove the 10mm bolt that holds the lock cylinder and door handle together. Reach in and push the nylon retainer that holds the rod into the cylinder (yellow on driver side, white on passenger side) and remove it. A slight twist of the cylinder will remove it from the door handle. Replace in reverse order.

First, remove the wheels. Take off the cotter pin and the nut that connects the spindle to the tie rods. Hammer on the rod end until pops downward. Mark the alignment of the tie rod, remove it, and then replace it.Ê

It's actually very easy. Remove tires and loosen inner tie rods from outer tie rods completely keeping track of number of turns. Then remove cotter pin and nut from outer tie rod and remove. Unthread inner tie rod from steering assembly. They rent a tool at O'reily's which makes this much easier. Repeat these steps in reverse order to re-assemble. Immediatly get alignment performed.

Remove the tie rod nut. Pop tie rod out of the hole in spindle. Unscrew tie rod from steering box. Install new tie rod in reverse order. Have front end aligned.

Remove wheel and properly support vehicle. Loosen bolt that olds outer tie rod. Disconnect outer tie rod from steering knuckle (Always use safety glasses when striking a hammer). Remove outer tie rod and count how many turns it took to remove. Remove inner tie rod boot. Use inner tie rod tool to remove inner tie rod (you can turn steering wheel so tie rod is easier to reach). Replace with new part. Properly install inner tie rod boot. Install outer tie rod and turn it as many times as it took to remove (this will help with alignment). Properly install outter tie rod and use a new cotter pin. Put wheel back on and get an alignment.

Remove the OUTER door skin to get to the window hardware. Lift the outer handle, press out the two retaining pins then, with the door open, remove the screws that are around the edge. You will find some of them by examining the bottom inside of the door. After the screws and outer door handle are removed, the door skin just lifts off and you can get to all of the window hardware.
