No
Hi The 3.5L has a tapered shaft, you MUST use a balancer puller or you will damage the pulley. These pullers are under $30 bucks
The harmonic balancer is located on the front of the crankshaft
You will need a harmonic balancer puller. Remove crankshaft bolt and washer, reinstall bolt without the washer approximately 10 turns. This will protect the threads in the crankshaft. Install puller and remove balancer. You cannot remove the balancer without this puller. They are inexpensive or try to borrow one.
On any motor, the harmonic balancer is on the front of the crankshaft. It is what the pulley is bolted to.
It is located behind the harmonic balancer on the front of the engine. You'll need a special puller to remove the balancer.
You turn it counter clockwise to loosen.
check harmonic balancer. check harmonic balancer.
After removing the bolt, use a large gear puller. Tighten the puller, tap the head with a hammer, then tighten again. After a few repetitions the balancer will break free.
no its not i paid 50.00 dollars for balancer and put it in about one hour
Use an impact wrench (1/2 inch works best) to loosen the harmonic balancer bolt. If you do not have one, you must keep the engine from rotating while loosening the bolt. Try leaving the serp belt on and add some more tension on the belt; then use a jerking motion to break free the bolt, you might get lucky...if that doesn't work remove the starter and insert something into the flywheel to lock it in place, then try to loosen the balancer bolt.
On the harmonic balancer that's attached to the front of the cranck shaft
