How do you remove the ignition lock cylinder on a 1993 Nissan Altima?

You don't have to remove the steering wheel to remove the ignition locl cylinder (mechanics will tell you otherwise). The lock cylinder is secured on to the steering column using two shear-off bolts (their heads shear off after a certain torque is applied while tightening them. So, you can not uncsrew them !). Kneeling by the drivers side door, I drilled a hole thru the side of the lock cylider all the way thru the bolt. First, I used a thin metal drill bit to start a hole and a larger drill bit (equal to the diameter of the bolt) later. I did the same to the other side of the lock cylinder. The lock cylinder will now fall off. This way, you don't have to remove the steering and mess with the air bag which is complicated.
